We love our baby!!!

Brooklyn Day 3

Well, here are a couple more pictures of our little angel. She seems to think that my arms are her new bed and last night she would not be content sleeping in her little bassinet. Needless to say, I'm a little tired today. :) She is just a doll and we are loving every minute being new parents! It's the greatest thing in the world! Daddy just loves to kiss Brookie's little chubby cheeks and dress her up in cute little outfits. Mommy just loves to hold and stare at her all day long and admire her beauty...she can't get enough!

Here's At Least One Pic

This is a picture from my cell phone camera. Sorry I don't have anything more at the moment. I will post some stuff tonight hopefully.

She's Here!

Well, Raylene and I arrived at the hospital Tuesday night at 9 o'clock for her scheduled induction. After getting settled she was given an IV which started her on Pitocin (a synthetic form of the human hormone oxytocin; biology class really does help). Raylene's contractions became more frequent but didn't bother her at all. She said she couldn't feel them at all until closer to 6:00 am. Dr. Beck came in about that time and decided to break her water because she was dilated to a four and 90 - 100% thinned out. Soon after Raylene's contractions became very strong and began to cause her much discomfort. The nurse anesthetist was called and a few minutes later was able to give her an epidural, which was a good thing because the contractions became very strong and painful. After about 10 minutes from the time the epidural was put in, all pain was gone. She said that she couldn't even feel when she was having contractions. An hour and a half after having her water broken Dr. Beck again came in and found her to be dilated at an eight or nine. To keep a long story short, Raylene said the delivery was pain free and quite short (only about 20 minutes of pushing). We are very grateful to have baby Brooklyn with us now. She was born at 12:08 pm on Wednesday, February 13, 2008. She weighed 7 lbs 7.5 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Every nurse has told us that she has the blondest hair they have seen. She actually has quite a lot of it. Raylene and the baby have been doing great. Thanks to all those who have come to visit us and who have given their support through phone calls, emails, texts, and prayers. I am trying to get pictures posted but the hospital doesn't have the internet setup yet because it is so new. Unfortunately I am at school right now and I just finished an economics test. We plan to bring Brooklyn home tomorrow morning before noon sometime.

Before Valentines Day...

Baby Update: Well, went to the doctor today and he said I'm dilated to about a 2 and almost completely thinned out. After telling him my mom had to be induced with all six of her kids and after he stripped my membranes he checked the schedule and said I could be induced this Tuesday at 9 pm! (TOMORROW) Kind of a late time in the day, but I didn't want to have her born on Valentines Day and he said I could just get the Epidural and then sleep on and off. So looks like by Wednesday morning Brooklyn will be here! WOAH! Kinda crazy that we're going to be parents this week! I couldn't be happier though! We're both ready! We'll keep ya posted as things progress....

Brooklyn's Room...

Well this last week we've done some final touches on the baby's room. It's been fun to have my mom come over and help hang some things up (vinyl lettering and shelves and curtains she made) meanwhile Brad has been doing lots of sanding and painting getting our kitchen table finished and also the glider ready for the nursery. When we originally bought it, it was natural wood color so we painted it white to match the rest! Now it fits in just perfectly! In some pictures the bassinet is in the baby's room, but this will be with us in our room for the first few months. Then after that Brooklyn can sleep in her crib. We are so excited to have Brooklyn here--only five days! I go to the doctor again on Monday so hopefully I'll find out when I'm having this baby...

Nursery almost complete...just need some things on the shelves and the glider painted white

Nursery finally complete! The lighting is really weird in this pic, but you can get the idea from other pics. P.S. We'll be putting pics of Brooklyn in the frames instead of Brad's toddler picture, but he was such a cutie I couldn't resist!

This is the vinyl lettering my good friend Susie Packer gave me for my baby shower gift. It's so cute and I think it looks perfect on the wall next to the closet. For more info check out her website...iedesignco.com

Our crib, cute letters my sisters made for Christmas gift, and our changing table.

A close up I guess of the corner...I'm picture crazy if you can't tell!

A picture of me at 39 weeks 2 days along.
COME OUT BABY BROOKIE! WE'RE READY AND WAITING.............

BRAD B-DAY!

Well, Brad's 23rd b-day was yesterday. We celebrated by eating a mint chocolate chip ice cream cake from Baskin Robbins and he opened all his presents Sunday morning. Then, after church we had a great dinner at my parent's house. It's so funny because they recently got a puggle (pug and beagle mix) and Jack is quite afraid of him. They play but it's mostly Jack running away from the puggle. Then, (today) as is tradition, Brad and I went out to dinner just the two of us, and he decided he wanted Pei Wei's. So I got my favorite--lettuce wraps, and he got the honey seared chicken over rice. Both divine!

Happy Birthday to the best hubby in the world! I JUST LOVE HIM SO MUCH!

Baby Brooklyn update: Went to the doctor today. I'm dilated at a one still, but am 70% thinned out. I think I had my first contractions this evening-which has made me very happy! I just feel like she'll never come and I'm getting very anxious to have her here. The doctor also did an ultra sound and says everything looks great--she weighs about 7 lb 10 oz right now. She still hasn't dropped, but I have another appt next Monday and hopefully that is my final one before she arrives. TEN DAYS BABY! Everybody feel free to pray that she comes earlier than later (esp. Sis. Merrell!--inside joke between my BYU roomies...) I am still working full time at the office, but for some reason these past few weeks I can't seem to get up on time, now instead of 9 I show up at 10. The joys of working for family! Welp, that's about it. We'll keep ya updated as things progress. Here's a few prego pics at my sister Christi's request.

Both pictures are me at 38 weeks.

Brad thinks by golfing we can get this baby out sooner. He got lessons for a Christmas present so he's wanted to go out and practice what he learned. It's helped a ton and after only one lesson! I blame being crappy this last time on being 38.5 weeks pregnant. :)

My parent's little 4 or 5 lb mini puggle named Hayden. He's such a cutie, but I wouldn't trade him for Jack any day! Jack is my little baby!
